New York, New York

SAN JUAN - With a great sense of elegance and modernity the celebrated Puerto Rican fashion designer, Edgar Josué Pérez, better known as Pipo Pere; presented in his native country his 2010 summer-fall new collection, pregnant with the glow of New York's night, the elegance of the still fashionable period (the 80's) and an innocuous vision of the future.

As usual the originality in his designs and the well use of fabrics and colors, helped Pere to seduce audiences through the 40 looks showed at the runway, carried out at the 2009 QPTV People's Choice Award nominee La Concha Hotel.

Meet Pipo Pere ::

With a brilliant and moderated use of the "shoulder pads", great three piece ensembles and beautifully elegant cocktail dresses, the only detail to be reproached was the unnecessary use of too much black to create the sensation of elegance and the well-worn use of metallic fabrics and spangles to evoke the feeling of the future, which can result very 80's, but not very wearable.

The exciting use of light and shine in fabrics -still in fashion- was another strong point at the Pere collection; presenting 10 clothes-changes for men with a romantic, bold and slightly rocker silhouette; in addition to interesting variations of a short dress with one shoulder and oval décolleté complemented with gripping accessories such as big striking belts with golden and silver details.

Native from the central town of Jayuya, Pere decided to base this collection in New York, for the personal connection he feels with the metropolis.

Pipo Pere's new colection::

"For me it is fascinating, I always try to go to New York at least twice a year to catch a little bit of the fashion style and the possible new trends people wear all the time in the streets of New York. For me it's the perfect inspiration", commented Pipo in an exclusive interview for QPTV.

After participating during two consecutive years in collective runways at the Puerto Rico High Fashion Week, and winning a special contest during the spring edition of the 2009, that gave him the opportunity to attend and meet the infamous Venezuelan fashion designer Carolina Herrera, during the launching of her winter-spring collection; the 35 years old designer doesn't discard the possibility of making a new entire collection inspired in his beloved country.

"Puerto Rico is rich in traditions, color, flavors and I really love that about my country. Back in time I have made a couple pieces inspired one way or another in the Puerto Rican culture and the 'taino indians', but I never did an entire collection with that theme, something that I really will like to do to show my love for my Island", emphasized Pere.
