The controversial life of one of the pioneers of the popular urban genre of reggaeton is about to be exposed as never before; for a limited time, in one of the most representative stages of Puerto Rico, through a theatrical piece that will shock more than one. The drama of being Vico C
SAN JUAN - Luis Armando Lozada, better known to his fans and friends as Vico C is without a doubt one of the most outstanding reggaeton and rap musicians of the last three decades. Named by some as "The Rap Philosopher" or the "Godfather of Reggaeton", his success has been almost as huge, as the drama that accompanied each of his professional conquests.
Regularly to have a musician of this genre divulge such deep secrets about their private life is not an easy task, but this was not the case, reason why the multiplatinum song-writer will reveal through a musical play based on his life and intimate details from his childhood to his recent days.
"Vico C, The Story" is the name of this play which will use as soundtrack some of the most famous songs of the singer. The show was presented from July 9 to 11 at the Ambassador Theater, located at the Santurce zone of the San Juan municipality, and this weekend return thank to its big success in two shows on Friday 16 and Saturday 17.
During two hours people will testify some of the most relevant episodes of Vico's life, his dreams, nightmares, his inspiration, loves and the mistakes that took him to controversial paths.
"This musical is a summary of my story, of my dreams of being someone in the world and my struggle to make rap in Spanish", said Vico in an exclusive interview.
The play will start with a young Vico fighting to make his dream come true in spite of not having economic resources to obtain it, memories that returned to his mind when he wrote letters to his children while he was in prison.
After that, the play goes to the singer moment of glorious fame, passing through his addictions, until his incorporation to Christianity and the reunion with his family.
The play will include hits such as: "De La Calle", "No a las Drogas", "La Recta Final", "Viernes 13", "La Inglesa", "Desahogo", "Aquel que había muerto", "Quieren", "Explosión" and "Mendigo".
The script was written by Laura Isabel who also directs the play with Dolores Pedro. The cast include: Vico's mother Marangelly, Jorge Rivera as DJ Negro, Rafael Albarrán as Tito, Vico's friend. Also star the play Jessica Rodríguez as Vico’s wife Sonia, and Miosotti Alvarado as the nurse that helped Vico after his controversial accident.
In addition the play will count with more than ten dancers directed by Katiria Nieves and Vico's second son Sugar, who performed his father as child. The stage design will be provided with a big screen which will project images and videos from the singer’s career, produced by the movie director George Rivera (Talento de Barrio).
