Third Love Fest

The 'Torch Song Trilogy' is one of the most expected plays of this year festival.

The voices of diversity will express and share with the general audience through the arts, workshops and seminaries information about 'being different', thanks to a relativity new festival begining a couple of years ago, as forum for the gay-lesbian community in Puerto Rico. Read more right here.

Puerto Rico's rainbow

SAN JUAN - From June 11 to August 1st the Island of Enchantment will be covered by the color of the rainbow, offering an even bigger variety for this summer season, thanks to the fifth consecutive edition of the already traditional Third Love Festival.

Ordinarily celebrated in fewer days, this occasion to commemorate its fifth anniversary the organizers decided to prolong the celebration until August, completing the offer with seven play theaters, 7 seminars, 8 movie films, one art exhibition and one award night to recognize the best of the LGBT industry.

Just like in the other years, the plays will be performed at the Coribantes Theater located at the Hato Rey zone of the San Juan municipality. The plays include the Spanish adaptation of the Tony Award winning piece "Torch Song Trilogy" (3 Boleros de Pasión), written by the four time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein and adapted to cinema in 1988 with Matthew Broderick and Anne Bancroft, this time lead star by Alejandro I, the controversial Lydia Echavarría, Pablo Tufiño and Eli Cay.

Another interesting play that will be presented as part of the festival is: "El Proyecto Laramie" with an outstanding group of local actor based on the famous homonymous film (star by Laura Linney, Peter Fonda, Christina Richie, Joshua Jackson and Ben Foster), based at the same time in the real case of the brutal murder of the young Mathew Sheppard in the Wyoming University on 1998.

In addition after each seminary people will be able to enjoy the projection of several movies and documentaries from Spain (Jodienda, Reacción-Acción, Diario de un Corazón, Invasiones Lesbianas del Espacio Exterior), France (Antonine), Argentina (Nocturno and Amor Crudo), Brazil (Formigas), Italy, US (City of Borders and Ninguno o Todos), United Kingdom (Shank), Cuba (Video de la Familia), Belgium (Barbie Boys) and Sweden.

This year the festival will offer more awards in categories such as: Best make up, best costume design, best stenography, best illumination, best breakout performance actor or actress, best lead and supporting actor and actress, best director and best producer or the year.
