Verdanza opens its doors with a focus on the personalized details that today’s traveler desires. Customized perks include personal bike taxi transport to and from the beach, made-to-order picnic beach lunches, a pillow menu, in-room coffeemaker with premium Puerto Rican coffee, luxurious eco-friendly bath products and pet-friendly guestrooms.
Guests will appreciate the cold towels and frozen treats made from fresh local fruit pulp, known as Puerto Rican limber, which they use to greet guests upon arrival. No guest will depart empty handed. A Verdanza signature music mix, created by local DJ Barón López, will be available for free download for each guest as a souvenir.
"The new Verdanza Hotel is all about personalized service, attention to detail and an overall experience that allows our guests to feel one with the true vibe of San Juan", said Ricky Newman, General Manager of the hotel.
The arts are extremely important to Verdanza hence the birth of 'Art and Friends', which celebrates the diverse artistic expressions of Puerto Rico providing a forum for new talent and experimental art.
Verdanza's opening kicks off a two-week 'Art and Friends' celebration of daily events for guests and the community featuring live concerts, video artist performances, and exhibits. The two-week long celebration culminated on December 13 with a Fair Trade Bazaar.
With its launch, Verdanza Hotel will become the only independent full-service hotel in the San Juan Metropolitan area of Puerto Rico. According to recent research published in the Ypartnership/Yankelovich Inc. 2009 National Travel MONITORSM, travelers are more likely to prefer an independent hotel or motel that offers more personalized service and a relaxing environment than a chain hotel.
The individualized design and service philosophy of the new Verdanza Hotel has earned it acceptance to Summit Hotels & Resorts, a collection of more than 150 independent properties worldwide. Like Verdanza Hotel, each property in the Summit collection, from historic urban hotels to beach resorts, articulates a genuine sense of its location.
The interior design firm Lynn Wilson & Associates was commissioned to implement the visual brand identity of the hotel. Coral Gables-based Lynn Wilson & Associates was responsible for the transformation of the property when it opened as Holiday Inn San Juan.
With a 35-year strong trajectory designing interior concepts for the hospitality industry, its portfolio of commissions boasts a diverse range of projects in five continents, including Windlesham Moor, property of HRH Queen Elizabeth of England; Biltmore Hotel in Boca Raton, Florida; Al Jazira Resort in Abu Dhabi; and the legendary Taj Mahal in la India. Verdanza furnishings were supplied from the hospitality collection of renowned manufacturer of contemporary high-end furniture, Adriana Hoyos.
From now and since to its inauguration the hotel will offer to all the locals and visitors a series of special activities to commemorate its new and reloaded concept, including special surprises for Christmas and New Year. The restaurants Eighty 20 Bistro, Coladas Fine Puertorican Cuisine and its famous bar, the J. H. Yee's Asian Bistro and the already famous David's Cookies Coffee remains open in the installations of the Verdanza.
