The most important award in the music industry recently announced the complete list of nominees for its 52nd edition and five Boricua artists gets important nominations for this year. Keep reading and discover all the details.
From salsa to reggaeton
LOS ANGELES - For a pair of years Puerto Rico has bunted enormously in the artistic scope, and its musicians are some of the most important ambassadors, to prove it we just have to take a sneak peak of this years Grammy nominations.
The ceremony to be celebrated this year on January 31st at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, organized by The Recording Academy will be broadcast live on CBS from 8:00 to 11:30 PM (ET/PT), announced this year their nominees with a special concert hosted by the actor and rap/star LL Cool J.
In this occasion Puerto Rico has a considerably outstanding important number of nominees including the reggaeton band Calle 13, nominated as Best Latin Rock, Alternative or urban Album (vocal or instrumental) for its record "Los de Atrás Vienen Conmigo", competing in the same category against its compatriots Wisin y Yandel (La Revolución / The Revolution).
The Puerto Ricans musicians also fighting in that category versus important Latin American artists such as: Aterciopelados and Los Fabulosos Cádillacs, both from Argentina, and from Spain, the song-writer Bebe.
In two less famous categories but no less important we find the world-wide renowned musician Roberto Sierra, who once again is fighting to win the Grammy in the category of Best Classical Contemporary Composition for his work "Roberto Sierra: Missa Latina Pro Pace". Sierra will present 'Carnaval' on May 8th of 2010 in the Island of Enchantment with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra.
The last Boricua nominated is the famous jazz musician and singer Miguel Zenón, who is competing for Best Latin Jazz Album of the Year (vocal or instrumental) with his latest album "Esta Plena".
